Meteor shower AND possible northern lights due to solar flare.
Meteor shower peaks 4:45 AM, as in six hours from posting this, and should be essentially peak levels two and a quarter hours on either side of that time. Still good activity further from the peak, but of course not as much. This is the largest shower of the year, and it happens to be pretty warm out this year.
Additionally, a major solar flare just happened, so there is a very good chance of vastly increased auroral activity, especially tomorrow night. They are expecting there will be a good chance of northern lights being visible from the northern part of the US, much farther south than normal.
If you can make it outside one of these two nights, or preferably both, you may be in for a treat. Bring friends, warm cloths, and snacks, and get as far from city lights as possible. :)
